Tree Surgery Questions

Frequently asked questions

How much does tree surgery cost?

Every tree is different, which is why we don't believe in one-size-fits-all pricing.

Before providing a quotation, we'll visit your property to carry out a thorough assessment of both the tree and the site. We'll consider factors such as the size and condition of the tree, access for our team and equipment, nearby buildings and gardens, the complexity of the work, whether the tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) and any additional safety considerations.Once we've completed our assessment, we'll provide a clear, no-obligation quotation with no hidden costs. As a guide, smaller pruning jobs may start from around £80, while larger or more complex tree surgery projects will be priced individually following our site visit.

Often, yes. Where appropriate, pruning or crown management may resolve concerns while retaining the tree. The correct approach depends on its condition, species and surroundings.

In many cases, yes. However, the most appropriate time for tree surgery depends on the species, the type of work being carried out and the condition of the tree. Wildlife is also an important consideration, particularly during bird nesting season, when trees must be carefully inspected before any work takes place. We always assess each situation individually and will advise on the safest, most appropriate time to carry out any tree work.

If your tree is protected by a Tree Preservation Order (TPO) or is located within a Conservation Area, permission or formal notification may be required before work can begin. If this applies to your tree, there's no need to worry, we'll guide you through the process. For any work we are carrying out, we'll prepare and submit the necessary TPO applications or Conservation Area notifications on your behalf at no additional cost.

Yes. Unless you'd like to keep the timber or woodchip, all branches, logs and green waste are removed from site as part of our service. We take great pride in leaving every garden, driveway and work area clean and tidy—something our customers regularly highlight in their reviews. Wherever possible, timber and woodchip are responsibly reused or recycled to minimise waste.

Red Fox Tree Care can assist with dangerous, failed and storm-damaged trees. If there is an immediate risk to people or property, keep clear of the area and call the team on 07413109238

WHEN TO ASK FOR ADVICE

When does a tree need professional attention?

It is worth asking a tree surgeon for advice if you notice dead or hanging branches, sudden leaning, cracks or cavities, storm damage, fungal growth, significant dieback, branches contacting buildings, excessive shading, or a tree that has simply outgrown the space available.

Not every concern means a tree needs removing. An inspection can often identify pruning, crown management or monitoring as a more appropriate option.

RESPONSIBLE TREE CARE

Making better use of every tree

Tree surgery naturally produces timber and woodchip. Where practical, Red Fox Tree Care gives these materials another purpose: timber can be processed into air-dried firewood, woodchip is supplied to allotments and community projects, and habitat material can be retained where appropriate.

We also welcome charities, community groups and local enterprises to contact us where tree work, woodchip or practical support could benefit a community space.
