Proud to Be Green Award Finalists

Tree care, timber reuse and community support across North Tyneside

2026 GREEN AWARD FINALIST

Proud to support our local community

We’re proud to have been shortlisted for the Green Award at the 2026 North Tyneside Business Awards. Here are some of the ways materials from our tree work are being put to good use locally.

For Red Fox Tree Care, this recognition means a great deal. We care about the trees we work on, and about finding useful purposes for suitable timber, branches and woodchip afterwards. We are also really proud of the work we do to support our local community and hope to build on this by starting a recycling network, details will be announced shortly.

Supporting forest schools and outdoor learning

Over the last couple of years, we’ve donated woodchip to the two forest school sites at The Wildside Learning Through Nature CIC, helping maintain paths, swing areas and a fire circle.

We’ve also supplied tree stumps for seating, branches for spoon carving and evergreen cuttings for wreath making. It’s rewarding to see materials from our tree work become resources for outdoor learning, creativity and play.

Christmas tree recycling in Whitley Bay

Each year, we volunteers with Station Masters Community Garden in Whitley Bay, helping turn Christmas trees into woodchip for the garden’s pathways.

It’s a practical example of local reuse: trees that have finished their festive role become a useful material for a community space. We’re pleased to support the volunteers who care for the garden.

Woodchip donations across North Tyneside

We also donate woodchip to local allotments around North Shields, Tynemouth and Cullercoats, giving materials from our tree work another useful purpose close to where we operate.

ThIf you look after an allotment, community garden or local growing space and could make use of woodchip, please fill in our enquiry form. Tell us where you’re based, how much you need and what you plan to use it for. Donations depend on availability and location, but we’re always pleased to hear from local gardeners and community groups.

Giving suitable timber another purpose

Alongside our community donations, we process suitable timber from our tree surgery work into air-dried firewood.

Different materials have different uses. Some timber becomes firewood, branches support craft activities, and woodchip helps maintain outdoor spaces. Our approach is to consider what can be put to good use locally.

Caring for trees and our community

Thank you to everyone who helps us put useful materials to work locally — our customers, forest school teams, community gardeners and allotment holders across North Tyneside.

Community project enquiries are welcome. Donations depend on the suitable materials available from our current work.
